Ashford Formula is a concrete densification product developed over 70 years ago. This old technology has stood the test of time, and it is one of the best applications to protect your concrete or masonry from their natural vulnerabilities. This product yields excellent results, it is time-efficient, and it is cost-effective.
What is the Ashford Formula?
The Ashford Formula is a liquid densifier that hardens and seals concrete or masonry. The leading causes of concrete damage is the freeze-thaw cycle and corrosion, which can be prevented by creating a chemically harder and more compact substrate. This sealer can be applied to new or old concrete.
The Ashford Formula is not a topical coating, like epoxy, for example. Conversely, Ashford Formula treats the inside of the concrete rather than just the surface. When it is applied, a chemical reaction occurs within the concrete that creates tiny crystals, filling in the natural pores that make concrete susceptible to damage. The Ashford Formula is also VOC free, non-toxic, and odorless.
Benefits of Sealing Concrete with Ashford Formula
Strengthens Floors
Ashford Formula works by chemically producing tiny crystals within the concrete pores, which increases the overall density. Increasing the density of concrete and masonry ultimately makes it a much stronger compound, and therefore less subject to erosion, chipping, scratching, or cracking.
It also seals your concrete from the freeze-thaw cycle by prohibiting water absorption. Instead, water is repelled off of the concrete, preventing those common hairline cracks. Ashford Formula makes concrete much more resilient to damage caused by weather and climate changes.
Lasts for Decades
Unlike floor coatings, Ashford Formula seals your floor once and for all. There won’t be any peeling or scuffs on the surface that need tended to. Because one application is the permanent solution, you eliminate future costs of recoating, resealing, or replacing your floors in the years to come.
Dustproofs the Floor
Dust doesn’t have to be a problem for your concrete floors. Untreated concrete is prone to efflorescence. This is the process of salt flushing out salts within the concrete that appear as a white, powdery substance on the surface. Ashford Formula puts an end to efflorescence by chemically binding to the salt minerals, creating a dust proof surface.
Improves Appearance
Perhaps the most remarkable feature of Ashford Formula sealer is that the more you use your floor, the better it will look! Foot traffic, vehicular traffic, scrubbing, and cleaning gradually polishes the concrete rather than eroding it. Ashford Formula is colorless, but the permanent sheen that develops can really brighten a space. Additionally, the concrete is much less susceptible to stains because the pores are filled.
Installs Quickly
Eliminate downtime and interruption by using Ashford Formula on your concrete or masonry. Sealing with Ashford Formula is typically a single-day process. Within just a few hours, you can use your floor, and it will already be much more resilient than before.
Our Ashford Sealer Process
- We always begin with surface preparation. The concrete or masonry must be bare. It must be completely clean, unpainted, and uncoated.
- Then we use a low-pressure sprayer to apply a thick coat of Ashford Formula, called a “flood coat”.
- Next, we scrub the Ashford Formula liquid to help it sink into the concrete.
- After 30 minutes, we rinse away an excess formula with water and allow it to dry. You can resume use after 2 to 3 hours.
